FAQs
What is droopy eyelid surgery?
Many factors may go into the appearance of droopy eyelids. These include excess skin or poor upper lid position. Dr. Keenum addresses all these issues and custom designs a surgical plan to correct each client’s needs.
Can anything be done for my puffy under eyes?
Yes. Dr. Keenum offers custom lower blepharoplasty to address specific goals. This may include fat removal or repositioning, addressing excess skin, and resurfacing laser to address fine lines and wrinkles and stimulate collagen production.
Does insurance cover my eyelid surgery?
Often insurance will cover droopy upper eyelid surgery which may include upper blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, and brow lift. Dr. Keenum performs a detailed pre-operative consultation to determine this so clients are aware of costs prior to surgery. Insurance does not cover cosmetic lower blepharoplasty for puffy under eyes and dark circles.
Should I get a consult for eyelid surgery?
Often upper eyelid skin hangs down over the eyes gradually over time, so its effects may not be noticed. If you feel your eyes are becoming droopy or tired, a consult with Dr. Keenum can help answer all your questions about surgery and other options.
How long is the downtime after eyelid surgery?
Clients are advised to limit strenuous activity for one week. Some bruising and swelling may last for a couple of weeks. Using ice and compression can help speed recovery times.
Are my stitches dissolvable?
Dr. Keenum uses non-dissolving sutures as they provide better healing of the incision and less scarring. He will have his clients return at one week to have the sutures removed and check that healing is appropriate.
